Riftbound Vendetta Arrives Friday 7/31!

Get Ready for Revenge: Riftbound TCG: Vendetta Drops July 31st! ⚔️

The rift is about to get personal. The fourth expansion set for the League of Legends TCG Riftbound: Vendetta, officially hits our shelves on Friday, July 31st!

Here is your ultimate preview guide to what’s coming in Vendetta, the game-changing mechanics to look out for, and early predictions on the top cards expected to define the meta.

What Makes Vendetta Special?

Vendetta centers on deep-seated conflicts; think Jayce vs. Viktor, Shen vs. Zed, Nasus vs. Renekton, and the Arcane powerhouse dynamic of Mel vs. Ambessa.

For the first time in Riftbound history, we’re seeing enemy-domain Legends (such as Fury/Calm, Mind/Body, and Chaos/Order). This unlocks hybrid deck archetypes that were literally impossible in earlier sets, giving deckbuilders a massive sandbox to experiment with.

New Mechanics & Card Types

  • Flow: Inspired by energy-based champions like Akali and Kennen, Flow lets you cast or play select cards directly from your trash instead of your hand. It provides insane card advantage and tempo for aggressive playstyles.

  • Empower: Mel and Ambessa’s signature mechanic, rewarding strategic board positioning and enhancing unit stats/abilities as combat scales.

  • Unit Gear: Dual type cards that function as both a unit and a piece of gear, adding incredible versatility to midrange and control builds.

  • Decree Spells: A tactical spell cycle explicitly crafted to counter opposing enemy domains.

5 Early Meta Predictions: Cards & Legends to Watch

With preview season wrapped, tournament players and community testers are already breaking down the set. Here are five powerful legends and cards predicted to make an immediate competitive impact:

Card / Legend Domain Pairing Role / Playstyle Meta Impact
Kennen (Storm of Shuriken) Chaos / Order High-Tempo Disruption S-Tier Contender: Uses Flow to recur key spells from the trash while repeatedly conquering zones.
Mel (Newly Awakened) Mind / Body Board Control & Empower Generates continuous value and defensive shields, punishing aggressive wide boards.
Akali (Deadly Weapon) Chaos / Order Aggressive Burst / Tempo Fast, unpredictable threat that abuses shuriken mechanics to bypass enemy blockers.
Ambessa (The Wolf) Mind / Body Aggressive Midrange A terrifying Noxian commander that dominates combat through sheer unit power and forced favorable trades.
Renekton (Dominus) Fury / Calm Overwhelm / Finisher Scales rapidly off damage taken/dealt, threatening lethal out of nowhere.

Pro Tip: Keep an eye on Kennen paired with spell-recursion packages. Early testing shows that abusing trash-to-hand/trash-to-cast mechanics creates tempo advantages that fast decks can't outpace and control decks struggle to suppress.

Collectors' Corner: Overnumbers & Diptych Art

If you open packs for the art, Vendetta is going to be a dream set.

  • Rivalry Diptychs: The 22 Rival Overnumber cards feature connecting artwork when placed side-by-side with their rival's card (like Vi & Jinx or Jayce & Viktor).
