Now that the massively hyped MTG x Marvel crossover is finally in our hands, all that preview season theorycrafting has officially turned into real tabletop gameplay. Leading up to launch night, the community was combing through mountains of spoilers to find the cards that would be the most exciting, powerful, and flat-out fun additions to existing decks.
Here is how five of the most talked about cards are actually performing right out of the gate:
1. Namor, The Sub-Mariner

For Merfolk tribal players, Namor immediately proved to be an absolute must have. At just three mana, you get a high toughness flyer whose power scales directly with your board state. Even better, he rewards you for casting noncreature spells by churning out 1/1 Merfolk tokens for every single blue mana pip in those spells' costs. Since most traditional Merfolk builds lean heavily into mono blue with a focus on countermagic and protection, Namor has effortlessly secured a slot as an absolute powerhouse.
2. Mole Man, Moloid Master

Mole Man officially joined the elite club of cards that let you play lands straight out of your graveyard. He brings a fantastic landfall trigger to help build up your board, but his real strength lies in his ability to mill cards whenever his Moloids attack. He found a perfect, hand-in-glove home in Teval, Balanced Scale Commander decks, checking every single box that strategy wants: graveyard recursion, token generation, and aggressive milling.
3. The Mind Stone

While everyone was hyping up The Mind Stone leading up to release, surprisingly few players actually understood how its specific mechanics worked at first. This two mana, indestructible mana rock easily slots into any white deck, but its unique "Infinity" ability is what truly pushes it over the edge. It is a slam dunk auto include for blink strategies like Brago, King Eternal, where players are already using it to double up on powerful ETB triggers or untap a creature to block on an opponent's turn.
4. The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl

This card has been pure, beautiful chaos on the battlefield. By creating a Squirrel token on both ETB and attack, she rapidly builds the foundation for her own devastating activated ability. Players who pair her with cards that let tokens tap for mana, or classic sacrifice outlets like Ashnod's Altar, have been successfully activating her ability multiple times a turn to create unmanageable armies of furry doom. For Chatterfang players, she instantly became a mandatory addition to the 99.
5. The Scarlet Witch

A dream come true for spellslinger decks, The Scarlet Witch arrived as a stellar cost reducer for anything four mana or higher. She brings massive, immediate value to those strategies, and her impact doubles if your deck has ways to boost her power (like with +1/+1 counters) to discount massive spells even further and completely warp the game in your favor.
How the Set Looks So Far
Now that players are actually cracking packs and testing these cards in the wild, Marvel Superheroes is looking like an absolute home run for both flavor and function. Community reception has been incredibly high, mostly because the designs genuinely capture the comic book identities of these characters paired with strong abilities and cards people genuinely love to play!
