The Organic Panic is Here: Disney Lorcana "Attack of the Vine!" Prerelease Guide!

Illumineers, grab your gear! The Great Illuminary is being completely overrun by a massive, invasive magical plant, and it is up to us to fight back. We are incredibly excited to announce that Disney Lorcana Set 13: Attack of the Vine! is arriving at our shop July 17th!

This is the largest Lorcana set to date, kicking off a massive competitive meta rotation and introducing highly anticipated Pixar franchises to the realm: Monsters, Inc., Up, and Turning Red!

Here is everything you need to know about our upcoming events, when you can buy product, and the cards you should be hunting for.

🗓️ Important Dates & Sales Schedule

Thanks to our Local Game Store (LGS) status, we get to bring you the magic earlier than big-box retail stores!

  • Friday, July 17th – Early Sales Open: Official LGS prerelease day! Starting the 17th, you can officially purchase Attack of the Vine! booster boxes, Illumineer's Troves, and single packs right off our shelves.

  • Monday, July 20th – Our In-Store Prerelease Tournament: Mark your calendars! We are hosting our official in-store Prerelease Event. Space is limited, so make sure to stop by or call to lock in your spot early!

📦 Let’s Do the Pack Math!

Whether you are playing in our sealed prerelease tournament on the 20th or tearing through a fresh booster box on the 17th, it helps to know exactly what you are pulling. Attack of the Vine! breaks Lorcana tradition by featuring 207 base cards (up from the usual 204)

Every single booster pack contains 12 cards with a guaranteed breakdown:

  • 6 Commons

  • 3 Uncommons

  • 2 Rare, Super Rare, or Legendary cards

  • 1 Foil card of completely randomized rarity (Yes, this can be an ultra rare Enchanted variant!)

💡 Prerelease Tournament Tip: In our Sealed event on July 20th, you will receive a Prerelease Box containing 6 booster packs and a random promo card variant. No ink color restrictions apply when building your deck!

👁️ Notable Cards to Watch Out For

This set introduces powerful Dual-Ink "Team" cards and features a 1950s B-movie sci-fi horror aesthetic. A massive Core Constructed rotation is pushing out the Year 2 sets, so these new cards are going to completely shift the meta. Here are a few heavy-hitters you want to pull:

1. Sulley – The New Boss (Super Rare)

The marquee hero of Monstropolis is now here! He features the Bodyguard keyword to protect your vulnerable questers, alongside a game-changing new ability called REHIRE, which allows you to pull a card right out of your discard pile back into your hand.

2. Boo – Energetic Child (Rare)

Do not underestimate this toddler! Boo comes out swinging with Rush, meaning she can challenge the turn she is played. Better yet, her Kid-Tastrophe! ability instantly banishes any challenged character with an ink cost of 3 or less. She is the perfect early to mid-game control tool. 

3. Mike Wazowski – Well-Rounded Entertainer (Common)

A simple but highly effective card for aggressive decks. His Make 'Em Laugh ability grants an extra +1 Lore when he quests, making him an incredibly cost-efficient threat that your opponent will have to deal with immediately.

4. Vineling Scar & Vineling Mrs. Incredible (Floodborn)

The Vine creates terrifying "leafy duplicates" of classic characters. Vineling Scar punishes opponents by letting you draw a card whenever your Floodborn characters are banished on their turn. Meanwhile, Vineling Mrs. Incredible discounts your Shift costs for every Floodborn character you send on a quest, paving the way for massive, explosive turns.
